Note: The nipple from the Intake Manifold at the bottom of this picture in the red circle needs to be capped when the block off plate is installed. In this picture you can see the cap on the intake where the hose from the air pump used to go. You can also see the vacuum lines have been removed from the sensor that screws to the intake and from across the top of the Intake Manifold. As someone else mentioned it is for cold setups to pump air into the system to heat the cat up quicker. It is 100% for emission control.

Yes it will, the block off will be the main part you need at that time though because if you run a standalone like AEM you can just turn off the CEL for the air pump and it will not matter if you have the control box.
