Saturday morning I was at the Donut Derelicts gathering enjoying coffee and a big tiger tail as the dawn was awakening. There were several new faces in the crowd but then again, I haven't spent much time there in the last few months.
At 6:30 I announce I am leaving for the Cars and Coffee show in Irvine to see if anyone wants to tag along. One guy I didn't know says he will follow. As I pull out of the parking lot I see a new black ZR-1 following me. Sure enough the guy wanting to tag along was driving the new supercharged Corvette and had a buddy in the passengers seat. I didn't even notice the ZR-1 back at the Derelicts and here he ends up tagging along with me. My lucky day. The freeway on ramp is a hard right and 1/2 mile of 3 and then 2 lanes. He was so close on the approach to the on ramp it felt like he was slipstreaming me. I took full advantage of all three lanes with just a little drift at the top of first. I powered second managing to keep it going the correct direction and saw him getting crossed up behind me. After a couple corrections he was on it and trying to reel me in. That's what he told me later, he thought he could reel me in. I powered it through second, hit a quick shift to 3rd and just stayed on it. It was a little over 100mph when I powered to 4th. Midway through 4th I looked up to see him in the rear view mirror about 2 to 3 bus lengths back and not gaining. I shut down about 125mph and started slowing to merge with traffic. We met up at Cars and Coffee and all he could say was "that little thing is fast." -------------------- Dark Sideways It is better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm when you can take advantage of gearing. 284.3 ft lbs of torque at 9400 rpm Current Dyno Playing with the big boys Joe ALANIZ is a thief

Nice! those ZR1's are no joke. Would have been nice to get a nice side by side run and film it.

its not the amount of hp his car makes....its about what he's done to the car to make it accelerate the way it does |

Crap. My S2000 made more horsepower, more torque and was lighter than Sideways'. I had the 4.56-R FD as well. |

aww don't doubt him!!!! also with your 4.56's i'm sure you were burning out the tires a little bit on the acceleration. he also probably has the best of what you could get for our cars to help with that acceleration. when he comes back and posts i'm sure he will let u know what hes making and packin

Sure. Tell you what...Sideways and I can do a 0-100 run. Without a doubt ZR1 would own me...but let's see what happens between Sideways and I. |

No problem. How about a ~25-125 roll? Not stupid here. Sideways' S2000 weighs ~2700lbs (probably less seeing as how he fakes the funk on everything that he posts) while my Evo weighs ~100lbs over stock! I am about to do some "nice" weight reductions on my Evo, but will not get it anywhere close to what my S2000 was down to because I am not going to make it into a tin can. |

I haven't ever met Sideways or seen his car in person but there are plenty of people who will back up his "claims" wholeheartedly.

Right...except that I pioneered EVERYTHING for the MY06+ S2000 and still hold the record with the most powerful MY06+ to date. Thanks for your comments though. For the record my latest project...Evo IX...is far different from my project S2000...but at its early stages is far more impressive. |

Again...here is the power graph when my S2K was "active": ![]() I will GUARANTEE you that Sideways' graph...on the same dyno...was nowhere near at potent. How do I know this? I've seen it first hand and it represent the prototypical non-impressive S2K supercharger dyno. |
