The ASM Lounge, The "new" Official ASM Thread

With the cooperation and support of Hunter of Bulletproof Automotive and the moderators of this forum I've decided to revive the ASM Lounge that disappeared a while back. As the Sole North American Distributor for ASM, we at Go Tuning Unlimited have tons of pictures, video clips, information, technical data, and insight into all things ASM to share with the S2Ki community. I will try to avoid re-posting content from the ASM blog unless there's a reason to comment or something significant to share. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to the never-before-seen stuff so that's what I'll focus on. So enjoy and let the questions roll!

This is where the staff of ASM and Go Tuning Unlimited spend countless hours a year in discussion and we'd like to invite S2Ki community to take a seat...

Let's start off by taking a tour of ASM.

ASM located in an upscale area in Yokohama, Japan.





Keeping with the theme of uncompromising craftsmanship, hardwood flooring is used throughout with the showroom with glass windows seamlessly blending into the workshop area. Even A section was built specifically in the workshop area to park a car so it can be displayed as part of the showroom.





Throughout the showroom are many products on display and nearly everything is available for sale.










ASM is also Japan's largest Recaro retail outlet with a huge inventory and many ASM Limited Edition seats that come directly from Recaro Japan.




In the workshop we can expect nothing other than a clean and tidy work area. Unique to ASM are the hardwood floors throughout the workshop area with 2 aligntment lifts built flush into the ground. No ramps needed for lowered cars here.





Nightly there's no shortage of S2000 owners just swinging by to hang out.

This had it's own separate thread but I figure it belongs in this one too.

What goes into making an ASM GT Bar.

All ASM GT Reinforcement Bars are made in Japan by Succeed Sports. Succeed Sports is led by Ichikawa-San who is also the chief engineer of the record setting ASM Tsukuba Special Time Attack Car. Before Succeed Sports, Ichikawa-San was a race engineer at Mugen prior to the M-Tec transition and headed such projects as the JGTC Mugen Takata Dome NSX. Each GT Front Tower Bar is hand made by a master craftsman at Succeed Sports from high grade Japanese stainless steel. All the torched colors and marks have been left naturally by the process of hand bending by torch or welding by hand. They’re not simply color treated for show. The entire manufacturing process of each bar takes 4 hours so only 2 can be produced per day. In Japan, many of the ASM GT series bars hold design patents to protect their innovative designs.

Careful though, it can become an addiction. Seriously.


On another note, anyone know what the whole rocket ship thing is about? Got an ASM key chain from Tommy not too long ago and it has a rocket ship(cartoon like)etched on it, with ASM on it. Also has 905 written on the bottom of it, which Tommy told me that it stands for ASM's open of business date(Sept. 05). He wasn't sure about the whole rocket ship thing though, LOL.

Anyone?
