I hadn't driven the BB6 for a few weeks until today, and oh man does that thing feel different. As soon as I got into it, I swear my first thought was, "this is my mom's car." I used to think the car was kinda sporty or something, but it's a huge boat. One of those landfill barges.

The steering wheel is so huge that it makes it feel like you're steering with an extra large pizza.

The huge throws of the shifter make you think you have an 18-wheeler's gearbox. And the urge to murder a prostitute is far greater than usual.

The whole driver/car interface feels really distant, like you're controlling a guy who is controlling a car. Like you have some kinda middleman in there. I used to feel like I was in a cockpit (no homo) and I was driving the batmobile. It feels like a crappy rental car now.

It does have shorter gears so you get the impression of more torque at first, but it's way slower and you're at the 7.4K redline before you know it. The VTEC crossover for the H22A4 at around 5.2K causes a deeper engine roar than what you hear with the F20C, but the car accelerates much less well.

The handling is crap and you feel like you're driving a buick or something. In fact, the BB6 was in a [terrible] shop for a while and I borrowed a buick and the difference in feel between the buick and the BB6 was less noticeable than between the BB6 and the AP1. If I drove that buick after the AP1, I think I would kill a man. Power steering is way worse and the steering ratio is terrible. The weight difference is probably only 170-200 pounds but even with a lardie in the passenger seat, the AP1 is more nimble and quick.

The exterior of the BB6, in my opinion, still looks sexy, but as soon as I get in I'm totally limp.

The BB6 has a weird smell I don't remember too, but I guess I can't blame it for that.

I was planning on keeping the BB6 for a while and having it as a backup car, but the thing is complete garbage now. I can only imagine what kind of aneurysm I would have after driving a corolla. It's like seeing your ex girlfriend after a few years. Nice tits, but you sure as hell don't want to deal with her again. I'm afraid to drive an NSX now for fear that this would happen all over again.

You can't go home again.

meh, diff cars = feels different. doesnt necessarily mean the BB6 handles worse... I drove one before, it felt light enough... Try going between the s2k and a camaro...mwahaha.

I have to say though - different drive feels is what makes cars awesome...I'd get bored if I drove only one car forever...There are pros and cons with all types of cars...
s2k is fun, but it'd be nice to putt putt around in a high torque car once in a while

high torque cars are nice and CAN also be fun, but its nice to rev the piss out of a high strung engine too...

Agreed. El Camino's aren't exactly hp/tq monsters, but its a nice enough break from the S

compared to an s2k, its going to be hard finding a car that matches up

however, the bb6 is one of the best handling fwd cars out there. IIRC the ATTS prelude was rated the best handling car under 30k back in 99-00'. theyre pretty impressive cars for what they are.

I have owned many Preludes and currently have one as a Daily. It isn't the s2k, but it does fill its niche quite well for a car thats very dated now.

A lot of people on this board probably don't know what a BB6 is...

And yes the SH was the best handling car under $30k and actually did very well in the over $30k shootout also.

Well given that you are on an S2000 forum I would say that would be normal. As most of us own, have owned, driven an S. BB6 is not exactly a common term. Hell I know non S2000 people that ask me if my S is AP1 or AP2 but I never had a person ask me on any of my 4 preludes what the chassis was. th_dontknow.gif

Did that gen Prelude outhandle the ITR? The Type R was much lighter and had a stiffer suspension.

No the ITR was always better. The prelude had a nice engine, but it was too heavy to compete with the ITR.
