No the ITR was always better. The prelude had a nice engine, but it was too heavy to compete with the ITR.

That's what I thought. Looks like the mag didn't throw the ITR in the comparo.

wow... i cant believe the amount of ish the op is receiving simply because he referred to his lude with a chassis code...

even though i somewhat disagree with his analysis of the vehicle, giving him a hard time for simplifying a cars name is ridiculously unnecessary.
according to you guys a person who refers to his 2002 bmw as an e46 would be a ricer? a guy who comments on his 997's performance would also automatically mean hes ignorant? grow the f*** up.

its a simple way to name the generation of a model... dont know what the chassis code is? maybe youre stuck in your almighty gods gift to earth ap1 ap2 world. google search takes milliseconds to give you the answer. try it next time you guys are confused instead of bashing the op for a thorough review.

he was just trying to share his personal thought... smartasses

I owned a 2001 Prelude from 09/2002 till 04/2009 and owned my S2000 for the last 3 of those years. Having driven both the BB6 and the S2000 back to back for 3 years I have to say that you are over exaggerating this just a bit.

While the S2000 does out handle the Prelude it's not by that much. They both pull very similar G's on a skid pad as well. The difference in stock suspension is notably more body roll in the Prelude and a tendency to under steer at the limit under uniform throttle...while the S2000 wants to over steer.

The S2000's steering ratio makes it easier to point where you want to go but the Prelude can turn in almost as fast with more degree of wheel turn.

I ran the Dragon at 70-90% of the handling limits of both cars and while the S2000 was definitely a little faster, the Prelude was easier to push to it's limits and MUCH, MUCH more forgiving of driver errors at handling limits.

I owned a 94 Predlude VTEC for 9 years and have no idea what the chasis code was. I thought BB6 refered to a Berlina Black 06. Too many people in the intranets speak in code. If you want others to read your posts, try speaking in english.

If i hadnt read these posts i still wouldnt know what a BB6 is. The only cars i ever see being refered by chassis code are bmws, s2000s, and some porsches. I assumed Balerina Black 06 myself. XD

as for the lude. well.... its gonna be hard for any car to match the gearbox from an s2000. I still havent drove 1 single car that has a better one and i have driven some pretty high end cars working as a auto body/electrical tech. Thats why after owning a spa yellow 01 AP1 it ruined other cars for me. I could not find a single car that felt as smooth, responsive, or fun for that matter. Thats why i purchased another s2000 recently. I wouldnt mind taking a lude as my daily driver at all but i would take the car for what it is. A prelude shouldnt outclass a S2000. to think that is just silly. However it is a very good memorable car with plenty of aftermarket support. I am sure you will learn to love it.

The saddest part of all this is, the 2010 Taurus SHO goes 0-60 in 4.7 sec or something, which makes the S2000 a BB6 of sorts.

Yeah, but what about the lap time around Tsukuba?

The point isn't that the BB6 sucks, it's that the AP1 is awesome. Same thing happened when I first got the BB6, it turned my ED6 into a golf cart.

I will say that oversteer is some pretty scary stuff if you've driven FWD your whole life. You could get by with pretty bad tires in rainy conditions with the BB6.

I've seen a lot of accounts of people driving what are ostensibly good, fast cars after owning an s2000 and being really disappointed. I'm not surprised.

It's called FWD and less power. (Not implying that you didn't know that)

You take an S2000 and a Prelude and put them on a tight handling course and you will see the huge difference.

btw, for comical purposes.

I've run the dragon in my S and a Ford Explorer 4x4 w/ ASC and I SWEAR to you I felt like I was going the same speed (I had a photo taken of my by Killboy in the Ford and my passenger was going ape shit) but I obviously wasn't. Yea I was squealing the tires in the Ford and yea the brakes were smoking and faded to all hell but it felt like I was going fast.

not all FWD cars suck.
i've owned DC2R, for those who are complaining, it's 01 Integra Type-R and 03AP1
even tho the S has more power & being RWD, it had slight edge
but i can say that the R gave me as much oversteer as S did + with more confidence to push to the limit.

after losing both cars, i've moved on to 350Z and G35, but neither cars give me excitements as R or S did.
now i'm searching for new car again and debating if i should get 08/09 S2000, CR, G37, or 05+ e46 m3.
i do like CR but i don't want to give up the softtop of regular S.
wish we had gotten type-s instead.....

I still have my 4th gen prelude. It has a modded suspension compared to my stock s2k so it handles just as well. It's a different feel driving FF vs FR but in the twisties I can push the lude just as hard as the s2k. It doesn't accelerate as hard in the upper RPM's and I have to remind myself to that redline is at 7.4k instead of 9k. Sometimes I forget which car I'm driving and I try to wind it to 9k then the damn rev limiter kicks in.

The lude feels solid when pushing it hard - it doesn't have all of the rattles and road noise of the S but I still prefer the S because steering response is quicker and I can put the top down.

I drive the lude about 2 or 3 times a week when I go mountainbiking since I don't have a bike rack for the S. Sometimes it's a pleasure to get in a car that handles just as well as the S but has some breathing room (especially when you have to pack mtb supplies).
