I need to patch my soft top and the factory service manual doesn't specify what type of glue to use. Since the top is vinyl, I was thinking maybe PVC glue?
anyone done this before? -Parker -------------------- Top always down...

I patched mine with 3m black weather strip adhesive to both the softtop and then the patch size. Let it sit for a min then add alittle more the the patch and install. Of course the top and patch would need to be clean and dry and has held up very well so far. Good Luck

I've tried all kinds of different glues - eventually they all lose adhesion and the patch falls off. Finally I got some elastic waistband material, waterproofed it with Tear-aid and sewed it on with needle and thread. It's on for good now.

I just picked up 2 types of fabric glue and did some tests this weekend. First was E-6000 that I picked up at a craft store, and the second was loctite vinyl, fabric & plastic flexible adhesive that I picked up at lowes. The E-6000 didnt hold very well at all and smelled toxic as all hell. The loctite worked very well and seems to be holding good.

gorilla tape works untill it gets hot out... then the adhesive gets soft and it comes off... I used gorilla tape combined with an adhesive whos name escapes me... works great

I fixed small tears and one small pinhole on the top with a Permatex kit that you can likely find at most auto parts outlets. It gives you an entire kit to repair different types of rips or tears. It worked well in my case, the cuts weren't very large. The glue kinda resembled that model glue stuff, but I can't say for sure that it is the same. This kit worked well for me.
