I have an 04 S2K with an inlinepro turbo kit and it was also tuned by inline. But when I took it to get it tested it failed because they couldn't read my car. The ECU gave them nothing to read I didn't reset the ECU or anything it just didn't give any codes not even the readiness codes.

So after I failed I went home and used my scan tool (its a basic actron scan tool) and it kept saying LINK ERROR. I hooked it up to my buds EVO and it worked fine and went back to my car and surprise! LINK ERROR

I live in Nashville, TN and was wandering if anyone else have had this problem. It was doing the same thing when I bought the car and I took it back to the dealership and they took it to a shop in Lebonon, TN and they got it to pass but I don't know how now the dealership is out of business and I don't know what shop the took it to.

Thanks for any help!!!

Is it a stock ECU or is it an AEM?

your car probably has a stand alone AEM EMS, which is why it cant be read. Because OBDII has been eliminated.

Some would argue it makes no sense for robertson county to have no emissions testing like the rest of the US living in 2009.

There are no emissions testing in the entire state of Florida.. We did have them at one time years ago but the then govener thought they were a bad idea and a waste of taxpayers dollars and have never been re-instated.

ask the emissions station if they can do a "sniff" test instead where they test emissions at the tailpipe instead of plugging it in the OBDII port.

Not compliant with EPA. The OBDII port has to be functional, only been law since 1996.

You're not going to pass emissions with an AEM EMS unless its a sniff test only, but INTJ's already said why you cant do that either.

The only way around this is to open the WG, and run a factory ecu for testing. In many places, a non-cert system (anything but greddy) gets you in trouble. But if they just plug and sniff, then you are cool and many operators couldn't care less. You may want to establish domicile in another, non-testing county. It is a small hastle, but those are your choices.

AEM EMS will never pass an emissions test that requires the OBD2 port to be functional. NEVER. You can try a stock ECU, but you'll need to run the stock injectors to get it to fire and start. But even then, it will fail the sniff test if you don't have a cat.

Sorry lol

No sniff test, they just plug into the obd port and let the computer do the rest, can I just buy a stock ecu and plug it in for the test and change it back when I get home. Also I can't find a stock ap2 ecu at a reasonable price can I just put an ap1 ecu in since I'm not goin to rev pass 9k on the way to get the test done anyway. I just hate that my county has an emissions test, I agree that its a waste of tax payer dollars. If the damn inspectors wasn't so old and goodie goodie I would bribe them but unfortunately thats not the case.

Thanks for all of the input, It helps,

It's a little more difficult than just throwing in an OEM ECU. Because you won't be "managing" your injectors and A/F ratios with the AEM anymore, your car will run like crap and maybe throw a code with the OEM ECU.

And you have to do the reset sensors driving sequence on the factory ECU to get it "on line" for the OBD II to work. So you can't just throw it in and run to the emissions. You'd have to drive it in the proper sequence.
