Hey guys. Well I wasn't really thinking today and in a hurry, I unlocked my car with the remote, opened the passenger side door and tossed the keys in, then shut the door. I didnt remember that this car doesn't recognize the passenger side door as being unlocked, and so the car automatically locked itself within 30seconds. I know I should have a spare, but I dont. I will go get one cut at the dealer tomorrow. In the meantime, could someone tell me how to easily break in so i can get my keys back? I dont have any fancy tools.. and I realize we dont want a thread with open info on how to break into our cars, so PM me please. Ive been a member here for a long time. Thanks!

If your keys are sitting on the passenger seat, can you hook them with a coat hanger? Or push the "unlock" button on the remote with the coat hanger? Because both of those things would probably be easier than trying to hook the door lock without a slim jim.

Hmm, never thought of trying to hit the remote. Ill give it a shot, thanks! i did think about hooking them with a coat hanger because I think I could do that fairly easily.. although I dont know what Id do with them once I did. I dont think I can pry the window far enough back to get them out ( have alot of keys)

~this trick only works if you have the keys in sight - coat hanger, push off the rubber trim on the convertible top
that should give you enough space to move the coat hanger to position it to grab the key. -------------------- 1985 V6 slow-maro (sold!) 1988 WS6 Formula Firebird (totaled) 1997 SS camaro (sold:() 1995 Neon (Beater) 2001 Black/Black S. (DailyDriver) Now: ![]() Hopefully: ![]() WANT: C6-Z |

This just happpen to me 2 days ago. I left mine in the trunk. All the lock smith did was pry the window away from the top. Use a long hanger hooked at the end and stuck it inside and pulled the unlock button on the passenger side.

Thanks to everyone who replied and PM'd me. Ive had to break into alot of cars over the years (mostly friends whove done the same thing I did..) and always have been able to get in via coat hanger and some patience. I didnt see an easy way to do in in the S, since there is no power lock button on the inside, and the locking latches wouldnt seem to be able to be hooked and pulled easily. Anyway, I ended up being able to sneak a coat-hanger in there and pressed the unlock button on my key fob that was on the seat. Thanks again everyone.

That's nice. I don't have the alarm, so I can't disable it. But it does work on a 2002. JonasM |

Hide the valet key on some accessable part of the frame then cover the key with black silicone. Lock-out worries are over forever. edit--- I'm assuming that the valet key also opens doors. If not, nevermind.

I have an 02 as well, and 'autolock' isn't documented anywhere in the manual, which leads me to believe it's not a standard feature. Autolock is confusing/annoying enough for most people that it would warrant documentation. Are you certain there wasn't an alarm installed before you bought it? Just for shiggles, try locking the car with the remote, then open the door using the key. If nothing happens, you definitely have keyless entry. |

the most awful of the s2000 features, significantly more people have been locked out of their cars than have been protected by the auto-lock feature.
