Because people think that by having a filter outside the engine bay such as the AEM that you create more power.. You are talking about literally a 2-3 hp difference. Hardly worth it imo... A short ram does the job fine and on the plus side you aren't hacking up your car to fit some piece of junk under the hood.

If you want snorkel type intake I would recommend getting a Spoon, or Mugen (or replica of one or the other) Passwordjdm.com actually has one for a little above $1,000 I believe that is provn to make a decent amount of power.

No, the tubing from having a longer tube generates velocity in a cold air intake.

Not necessarily. Depending on the intake the turbulence can actually compromise the velocity of the air and lower air flow into the internal combustion chamber. Depending on which brand you get you will make a bit more power. Either way unless your car is tuned its probably not worth the cost, or chance of hydrolock if the car is driven during the winter.

with a short ram you are most likely losing 2-3hp vs. your stock intake

Correct if done on a dyno, I know this because my buddy beat me out by 4whp on the dyno, Same mods asdie from the intake, and roughly the same mileage and no tunes. On a track or freeway I would think otherwise though.

The reason I actually bought mine was to help with heatsoak which it has. A few hp won't kill me..

Power lost on the dyno is power lost on the tarmac. There is no intake that's going to help you gain more than extra sound and a small, barely (if at all) power difference, + or -. You can get the same sound as a short ram/CAI from the stock airbox in place with proper modification (I built mine) without losing any efficiency/power in the process. And I have ZERO noticeable heat-soak in 90+ degree weather in traffic.

I enjoy having a short ram because I don't have to worry about hydrolock, it's easier to get to the filter for cleaning, it frees up space in the engine bay, and sounds pretty good

I'm interested in having the UK exhaust done to my stock s2000. I've read through some threads and still a tad confused. How is the best way to actually explain that I want the 32mm exhaust mod done to a muffler shop?
