Smile C63 owner looking for S2K

Hi all,

I am new here and let me introduce myself for a sec (as the rules force me to do so )

I am a car enthusiast living in Belgium and currently owning a Black C63 AMG T-Model (MY2012 - 6.2 V8 with LSD and performance package so 487 hp). Of course, this is an amazing car and daily driver: sound is nailing it, I can take it to track days, drift days, I have SO much torque, storage space, hydraulic direct steering, I can drive over 280 km/h on the German autobahn, etc etc.).

In addition to my Hammer, I am now looking for a fun lightweight (track) car and the S2K has been on my list for over 5 years (alternative and dream is a GT3 RS but that's just way to expensive). I just love how the S2Khandles and its characteristics. Hard core driving. I am now really considering buying one in the course of 2017 (finding the right one will however be not so easy since low milage S2Ks for sale in EU are very limited).

So, if you have any tips (e.g. AP1 or AP2 - slight preference for AP2 since it has ESP and other people than myself also need to drive the car occasionally), please let me know !

I would also like to know what I will have to change to a standard S2K in order to make it better performing on the track (while not making it 100% track dedicated since let's be honest 90% of the time I will drive it on the public roads), e.g. adding performance (what are the possibilities without adding compressors of supercharges) , how do the OEM brakes hold after some laps Nordschleife, what about the OEM suspension, etc. etc. (and o yes, I would like to have a subtitle but great performing WING for additional down force and also because #GOTWING is just fun, right?).

Hope the above makes a bit sense to you :-)

Many thanks in advance for your help and tips !

Best
Wouter

The must have probably is...

Single exhaust
Intake
standalone ecu or flashpro if +06
1.5lsd
Project mu hc800 brake pads all around.
3 way adjustable suspension.
Set of new Rims with nice wheels... 255 all around.
money for Fuel + LOTS OF FUN
Start with this and then continue improving parts slowly.

Any year S2000 is great for track use. I would personally recommend 04-05 AP2. This was the 1st year for the AP2 so a lot of the small issues from the AP1 was sorted out. Since the drive by wire with traction & stability control started in 2006, 04-05 models still has the raw feeling of AP1 yet with more refinement. Sure you lose 9K but 8200(fuel cutoff at 8300) with more torque is just as fun. I agree that 255's all around is the way to go if you're an experienced S2000 driver but having the front end slightly under steer at the limit is much safer for a first time owner of the S. You can upgrade as you get more experience but I would highly recommend new fluids and more aggressive brake pads.(and a roll bar) Good luck!
