picked up a black 01 with 100k miles, bone stock. original owner had it since new and is in mechanically excellent condition. some cosmetic wear and tear but thats no biggie. only issue is i need to have vtec valve replaced because it's leaking. but most importantly, i need new tires, the ones on there are pretty worn down.
so any recommendations for an all around tire (affordable) with an emphasis on wet road performance? it rains a lot down here in florida.

Post just yesterday on a source for the VTEC solenoid o-rings and screen. $25 for the set as I recall. Probably just need a 10mm wrench to remove the valve and fit the new seals.
Florida should be able to use "summer" tires all year around. Lots of recommendations here and the Tire Rack website has some videos regarding rain performance. There are some color coded charts that show wet and dry performance. The car benefits from high performance tires. I loved the Bridgestone RE-11A tires on my 17" wheels and they lasted (I recall) about 14,000 miles which is great for an "extreme" performance summer tire. The 16" version is the RE-11 (looks the same to me) and has good ratings on Tire Rack.

so all i need is to replace the gasket and screen not the whole valve? sweet.
another issue, keyless entry does not work. when i press lock/unlock i see the dash flashing but the locks physically do not move.

Youtube search a channel called Garage Topics. He's an S2k owner and has recently posted a video regarding his door locks doing something similar and a solution for it. You might be having the same issue.

i suspected it was probably bad actuators, but i'm going to take it to an s2ki approved shop to take a look. probably have them do valve adjustment and check TCT for peace of mind.
