Default Anyone know honest honda dealership

Hey guys.

My 2005 honda pilot key's(laser cut ) actual metal key part broke off from the key fob.

I called few dealerships around Glen burnie, md and they want $90 for key cut and $120 FOR programming.

Anyone knows a dealership that won't charge arm and a leg for a key copy on laser cut keys?

thanks in advance.

What is not honest about these prices? Or the dealer? You seem to be confusing prices and honesty. These prices look typical. The fact you called a few dealerships and got the same, honest answer didn't please you?

Your issue is not honesty, its price. I think you might be stuck with your choices. They know they have the key and the programming, and Advanced/Auto Zone does not. Might have to take it on this one.

Well...,

I got few dealerships who wanted to charge 80-90 bucks for keys and 120 to 140 for programming. The reason why I said the prices weren't honest is because I used to work at Herson's Honda in Rockville. However I left there over 11 years ago and I don't have connections anymore like I used to. A lot of people aren't there anymore that I was close with. Prices on key cut costs about 10 bucks or so (Besides the key and the key fob) and programming was literally nothing. Of course that was if you worked there but I'm saying what it costs the dealership is very small fraction of what they charge. I know it's business and I know they need to make money, but I was wondering if anyone knew a dealership that wasn't upcharging like crazy. It's like finding a shop that will install spring for 200 vs 500. So, yes chuck, those "honest" answer did not please me. I know every dealership will have different "labor" calculations especially when it's under 20 minutes. Some will charge an hour flat for anything under an hour and some will charge for what it's actually worth, like oil changes. I was just looking for that.
However after more phone calls, I found out O'Donnell's Honda in Ellicott City said 59 dollars for cut & program and 50 dollar and change for key & Fob. or bring your own if you purchased it over the line.
So I just got it done there. I know it was 20 mins of extra drive, but was definitely worth saving over 80 bucks vs the dealership that was closest to my house.
Cheapest one I found that's reasonable driving distance around my home or work besides O'Donnell's was still good 55 bucks and change more than them. And it would have been further drive.

I know 80 bucks may not be much money when it comes to car parts, but difference in 80 dollars for item that's under 200 is a lot from my opinion. And no I don't work or represent O'Donnell's in any way.

So i guess mod can close this as I already got the key cut And it seems like if it's not an emergency like my case, you can order the keys online and get it programmed at the dealership to save even more.
