And diesel is the wave of the future... you wait.
40-50-60 mpg on low sulfer diesel (or diesel hybrids) is pretty good... much less emissions as well.
diesel cars FTW

fwiw, people are getting 50mpg+ on non-hybrid gasoline Accords using hypermiling techniques
these guys are crazy when it comes to fuel efficiency... Turning the engine off at stoplights and coasting downhill etc...

Cale, this is a good time to look into a tow truck/SUV for the S. I've seen 07 Expeditions with 11k miles listed for $17.5k at a dealership (may be make an offer for $16k OTD). Gas mileage will suck for sure, but the prices are really attractive.

I forgot his name, but I caravaned back from VIR with John and another HC guy... He had a diesel Excursion with a chip and was able to get 26mpg... 19 or so while towing. Diesel is more expensive (right now) but 26mpg in a 7000lb machine? thats pretty damn good. Thats better than your RX-8!

Link is no longer good, but it looks like Mercedes did not achieve this goal.

Crude oil cost 2.5 times what it does now when this thread was created.
