Palmer Motorsports Track Day, June 23
I want to gauge interest in this event and want to know if you would definitely do this, or are only a maybe. So here's the deal...
After a great meet on Saturday a number of us said we would be interested in a track day at Palmer Motorsports. I said I would look into upcoming events and I think I found the right one for us. The SCCA has a program called Track Night In America. Here is a link to the site:

Looking at the schedule, I found this upcoming event on Thursday, June 23. It starts at 3:00, so you would have to be able to skip out of work for a half day, but it is probably easier to get folks to go on a weeknight than a weekend during the busy summer months.

For me, the Koni Novice Experience is the way to go. Here is the description of their run groups:

If you need to buy a helmet, the SCCA will sell you one at a discount with your order for the track day:

BUT, I don't know if Palmer has its own rules about a roll bar. I'll update this thread when I hear back from them.

There are about 6 or 7 S2000s running at Watkins Glen on July 18-19 with SCDA. Then several (not me) are planning to run at Palmer with NASA-NE the following weekend on July 22nd, 23rd and maybe July 24th. That's a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, although Sunday may be racing only, no HPDE. (I haven't checked the schedule.)
Both SCDA and NASA-NE are stock S2000 friendly, and would provide an in-car instructor for novices. NASA-NE has a $65.00 membership fee.
Run top up and don't sweat the broomstick test. I've never been checked running with the top up.
I urge everybody to sign up the event that Bill is trying to organize - whether on June 23rd or one of the other option dates. It is so much fun - and it is even better when you are part of a group.
I'll be "racing" the MGA at Thompson on June 23rd, so I can't join you.

Bill I don't know if this will be an issue for some or not, but the track nights do not offer in car instructors for the novice groups. There is scheduled class time before each session, but from what I've read they do not provide instructors for the on track time. My concern would be others who are out on the track who may have a tendency to be reckless without an instructor next to them. Not sure if this is the case during these events or not, but I would definitely be interested in attending.

I could have Bill. But it wasn't the right thing to do - the rules say a pass can only happen on a point by and I'd rather the Porsche driver ignore the blue flags than me executing a pass on him. That session we had race cars and time trial cars out on track with us too and I didn't want to do anything to upset the Porsche driver as he seemed a little overwhelmed.
If you are doing TNiA at Palmer, also check out Track Pass at Lime Rock next week.
