Interesting article about how carbon fiber is so brittle and how companies are coming up with new composites - Innegra and Dyneema, to infuse with the carbon fiber making make it stronger and less susceptible to breaking while still light. The article is mainly about bicycle frames but I'm sure automotive applications are in the works if not already available.
