Has anyone used these patches BEFORE any worn spots or holes developed in their top?

Don't want to 'fix what ain't broken' but would like the top to last w/o issues!

I've heard about people gluing strips under the top where the bar "corner" slides in order to give some extra padding. Using some of that ballistics vinyl or strips of kevlar cloth would help a lot.

Thanks, Aaron!

I think I'll add them to help preserve the top.

^i think thats a good idea and all S owners should consider it. its just a matter of time that the hole will form.

A few weeks ago I had a small tear in my top (behind driver side latch). I put some sail patch tape and this did not work too well. I am going to fix it with Gore-tex fabric and E6000. Ballistic nylon is a great solution for behind the bars! This will help with the typical tears that we experience. This seems similar to the Modifry top fix.

Ok guys, here it is. I bought the ballistic nylon yesterday and I got the smallest amount possible and it's probably enough to cover the 2 typical wear spots on 6 or 7 tops. I want to keep 1 extra set just incase but I will be giving the rest out for free to any of you guys that want some. I will measure either today or tomorrow the spots on the top and cut up the rest of my nylon. I'll post back later today or tomorrow about how many sets of 2 I'll have left over. Then I will give them out to you guys who want them at the next meet that I go to. First come first served!

This is what mine looks like over a nickle size wear spot I made it big to protect the entire area also I rounded the corners of the patch so it would not snag

So today I got around to cutting out the patches and putting them on using the e6000. It's kind of tough putting the e6000 on the patches but I just used my finger and rubbed it all over as much as possible. Thanks for showing me to these patches. If anyone wants any then let me know because I have a TON left over.

Try seeing if there is a store called 'mill end fabric store' near you.
