Just as an update: i tore a ligament in my ankle playing basketball and have been on the couch for the last week and half... Car has sat in the garage.
@sake - Did it with a friend. Once i recover i hope to have a more knowledgeable friend assist with the bleed.

Another update:
Credit to Z32MadMan for mentioning the procedure and Billman for the actual procedure. I was amazed at the result of doing this. This is definitely the stiffest (obligatory "that's what she said") pedal feel i have ever had with the car in the 6 years of ownership.
Just completing this alone produced an amazing pedal feel.
I then drove around trying to engage ABS... This is really hard to do on 255 AD08Rs...
I completed a gravity bleed with about 1/2 a litre of fluid but there really wasn't any air in the system.
Bad news is that my handbrake light is still on. I will probably repeat this procedure again next weekend and if that doesn't clear the warning, i'll go see a professional.

Your handbrake light is not directly related to air in the system. Its not an air detector.
The float in your brake fluid reservoir cap is probably the issue.

So finally this is resolved - the float in my reservoir was stuck at the bottom. Most likely this occurred when i removed the fluid with a turkey baster.
I cleaned up a little flat head screw driver and manually pushed it back up and its sitting happy at the top.
Thanks to everyone for the help and info.
