Default What is the stiffest springs run on coilovers?

Many cars are dual-purpose, some are track only. 16 kgf/mm, about 900 lbf/in, is pretty common. Rates from 10 kgf/mm (about 550 lbf/in) to the 16kgf/mm seem common. However, it would seem that rates as high as 22 kgf/mm to 26kgf/mm might be reasonable, especially for a lowered, track-only car with aero such as a splitter and wing.

What are the stiffest rates that have been run?

Thanks,

David

Note: this is informational...

On my street/track toy I run 14kg. Ive heard guys running 16kg, but that's about the highest ive come across on this platform. I imagine someone is running higher with dedicated track S2000 with fat race compound tires, but I don't know what. Would be curious to know.

seen 20kg on dedicated race cars, but even then you'd better have a shit ton of aero and hoosiers. Hyperco makes conventional springs up to 3800 lb (67.86 kg/mm)

You can't compare spring rates for one model of car with another. Differences in motion ratio of the suspension are different, car weights are different, which means a 600 lb/in spring will be soft and one car, and very hard in another.

Stiff springs aren't the formula for performance. Stiffer is not necessarily better.

If ur car is dual purpose then I'd say 14 kg max. But it just depends. Also depends wat coil kit u r talking about. I have 18kg springs. Race car only.

I am at 900F/1000R. I dont see the need for much more. Most US tracks are kinda bumpy. I am going to try that this year, if I like it I will think of going higher.

It all depends on what you want to do honestly. Dont make the cardinal mistake of over springing your car.
