S2000 CR Club Racer Edition CR stands for "club racer," conjuring up the good old days when guys drove their sports cars to the track, raced them, and then, if the racing gods were smiling, drove them home again

I just got a notification last week that the value of my CR on kbb went up 3%. They seem to go up and down randomly and its value on KBB is WAY higher than that joke value on nada.

I don't know if I agree with this. I think it's any owners decision on how to drive the car. I was hit a few years ago because a Harley crossed the double yellow at the Dragon and slammed into the door and rear panel. I've also tracked the car several times and understood the risk involved. I know several people who race them and that's how they wanted to drive their car. I don't drive the car a lot, but when I do, I drive to enjoy it. I am aware of the risks involved, but I also know why I bought it. Not as a collector car, but as a car I can enjoy.

Lots of sinful things are fun to do. But when the CRs are gone they're gone. Poor out of the box race cars and any S2000 can be racer-ized with the same equipment.

All good points folks. I was just surprised and curious to see if others rain into the same situation. My bank laughed at the 30k ish figure for the CR as they base the value off of NADA alone.

I think a CR should be driven but with care taken. It was built with the track in mind, why should one deprive it of such an experience. We'll see if I can scrounge up all the little pieces so that I can bring one out to the track with some piece of mind. I am thinking some of those mud/rock guards to protect the paint and strategically placed tape/clear bra for vulnerable spots.

ABP CR's are pretty rare on the east cost. Last year when I was looking for one, I found one in Charlotte with almost 50k miles that sold for 32k within two days of posting. NADA values are a joke.

At the time Ned had his for sale there was another ABP in Florida for sale with a $42K asking price. The ABP one that has recently made its way to a dealer for the same basic price when it had 81K miles and at the very least been involved in a front collision with incorrect repairs. That 81K mile ABP was also listed as salvage. Ned's car also had all books, service records, second set of wheels and tires etc.. There is a Black one for sale in California which has had the hood and trunk replaced, 72K miles, lots of track use, complete re-spray at a $32K asking price. Although this one has additional aftermarket add on's, Ned's car was appealing for three key reasons, No paint/body work, no modifications other than very simple "skirts" and ONE owner with service history

I was HAPPY to give him his asking price !!

Although they have lowered the asking price by $4000, below is the current listing. It was listed at $29995 previously. The dealer has since learned the history and appears to have reduced the price although it is still high for a "salvage title"
