Alpine KTP-445U to OEM head unit, help
so rather that try to explain my idea, i figured i would draw it out....see above!
my plan is to make the alpine amp completely plug and play with the oem head unit, meaning i unplug the head unit, plug one end of the amp into the harness and the other end back into the head unit, no cutting and splicing of the factory harness!!
so this would require me to get an aftermarket honda male harness and female harness, but ive read numerous times that the generic honda harness' are usually missing the wires to keep dash controls and what not, so i wanted to see what you guys recommend.... and if anyone has done this
also i have no desire to get an aftermarket head unit, i hate the way they look, and my 08 headunit supports ipod thru the hondalink so thats all i really need
i have the wiring diagrams for both the amp and 2008 oem stereo, only wires that dont match are the remote wire on the ktp, and the illumination and dimmer wire on the oem unit... suggestions

Sorry don't have the time to really look into this. But I'm sure you don't have to hook up all the car wiring to the alpine then the oem. For example, the dimmer wire will bypass the alpine and just go straight to the oem again. To keep the dash controls you need to modify the aftermarket harness that connects to the car side. Since my S2000 doesn't have rear speakers, I took two pins out from those locations and added them to the Mute and Remote locations. You can look more into this on the web.
