I'm not entirely sure how the wire will be stealthily routed from the back of the head unit along the dash and to the bottom of the A pillar trim, but I'm sure I'll figure it out once install time comes.
my picture 2 posts up shows my radar detector hard wired if that helps

Talking between dash and column

New to the site and wanted to share what I did. I ended up mounting the microphone where volcomboy390 mentioned, between steering wheel column and dash. You wedge the dash a tiny bit, just enough for the mic clip to go and the dash holds in place just fine. It's perfect. No need to make any holes anywhere, simple to route, hard to see and it sounds good. I've had it for two weeks this way and made several calls with no complaints. Mind you, the top is up because it's winter but I've had no complaints from parties on the other end of the call.
