Default help with alaram..wont arm or dis-arm

hello all.. to make a long story short:

the s2k has been sitting since x-mas..battery died. (sat with dead battery for like a month)

i charged the battery with a trickle charger. the car starts up fine.

the prob is: the alarm wont arm or dis-arm. no response at all from it.

the led light for the remote is not on.
(usually is on or blinks..etc)

i do have the code hoping function..so ive tried to re-sync it ( With the door open, turn to pos on, than press valet button, than press again and holding, than pressing the lock/unlock on the remote.)

even when i do the above..its says when u press the valet, the sirens chirps.. but in my case, it does not.

ive tried to take it out of valet, (turn on,off than press the valet button)

not sure what else to do?
can any 1 help.. did the back-up battery die, thats why it wont work?

i have a viper 5000 series.

My Clifford 50.7x has a setting that controls the "alarm type" either Security and Remote Entry (SEC) or just Remote Entry (REM).
Yours might have similar settings, or maybe even an "Off" setting.
Make sure your Alarm Antenna in your car is connected properly to the brain.

No..i never changed any type of setting..i think the alarm had a feature that puts it in. sleep mode to conserve battery when sitting for long periods of time..and so it turned into sleep mode and never woke up..

I need to figure o.t how to wake it up

Placing the system into the remote pair mode:
1. Turn the ignition to the On position.
2. Press, release, then press and hold the Control button (on the Control
Center).
3. The Control Center LED begins to flash and the horn honks once to
confirm the system is in Pair mode, the Control button can be released.
The system will stay in Pair mode for 60 seconds or until the ignition is
turned off. The horn will emit one short and one long honk when it exits
remote pair mode.

Placing the remote into the remote pair mode:
1. Press and hold the [F] button for 8 seconds. If the transmit LED flashes at 3 seconds, disregard and continue to hold.
2. Wait for the Transmit LED to light solid. Release the [F] button.
3. Press the [Remote Start] button for 1 second. The transmit LED flashes 3 times.
4. Within 5 seconds, press the [Lock/Arm] button.
5. The vehicle horn honks. You have now successfully learned the remote to the vehicle remote start system.

To exit remote pairing:
• Press and release the [F] button one time, and then press and hold it for
1.5 seconds. The transmit LED turns off.

ive tried doing the following..

Placing the system into the remote pair mode:
1. Turn the ignition to the On position.
2. Press, release, then press and hold the Control button (on the Control Center).

im assuming thats the valet button, or the button you press to put the car in valet mode.

but step 3 never happens.

3. The Control Center LED begins to flash and the horn honks once.

thats my prob, the led or siren doesnt respond.

not sure what else to try, other than ripping the system out.. =X

I guess that rules out the remote.
Check to see if the alarm brain is properly grounded and getting power. Some have a fuse connected to the brain via the power cord, check to see if it came apart, as well as if the fuse is still good. It sounds like its either not properly grounded or powered.
If you take it to a car audio place that services/ sells Vipers they might have some input, usually its free of charge if your really nice to them and they are not busy.
