Will Focal Performance PS165V fit in 2004 S2000?
I just bought a 2004 S2000 with factory sound and am going to upgrade the sound system and am wondering if Focal Performance PS 165Vs will fit in the doors? I've seen old threads on this website that say that Focal 165s during those time periods will fit, but I've talked with Crutchfield (from whom I'm looking to purchase the speakers) and they've told me that the speakers are too high for the door panel and won't fit. So, I'm concerned that the speakers dimensions have changed so that they now won't fit in the door. Has anyone here put Focal PS 165Vs in their s2000 and did the speaker bracket have to be modified for the speaker to fit and if so, how? Thanks, and any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!

I have them in my 2006 but had to ditch the factory bracket and use a spacer (3/4" I think) between the door and speaker to fit along with shaving down a little plastic on the inside door panel. You will also need to fabricate a way to mount the tweeter. I used dynamat on the door and a wave breaker pad behind the speaker along with some weather stripping. They sound great and the speaker locations still look stock but its not the easiest setup.
I would go with the focal integration ISS 165 series if you are not going to amp them. The speakers are not as deep and the crossovers are inline so you don't have to mount 4 crossover boxes.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to amp the system (110 watt RMS) so the 165Vs would be perfect. But, sounds like the installation is pretty work intensive. I've got somebody doing the install for me and maybe I should pick a different speaker. I don't want to get that much alteration to the door panel. I was also considering the Hertz HSK 165.4s. Hopefully someone who has put HSK 165.4's in their AP2 doors will read this thread and can comment on how they fit and what modifications are necessary. Needless to say, I'm not too savvy on the car yet and learning as I go.

I went with the Hertz HSK 165.4s. What amp wattage are you pushing into the Focals? I went back and forth on whether to increase the amp up to 150Wx2 RMS and decided to stick with the 110Wx2 RMS (Sound Ordnance M100-2). Nothing is installed yet and wondering whether I made the right choice to stick with the 110W amp.

100 watts a channel with an old school rock solid PPI amp. I dont have any experience with Hertz and SO but 110w should be more than enough. Make sure you use some dynamat or something similar. That along with a nice install will get you way further then adding another 40w to those speakers.
Are you installing a sub?

I'm gonna wait until I see how the setup sounds to decide upon whether I need a sub. If I get enough low end out of the system as is for classic rock I'll be happy. Am planning on soundproofing the doors.

Hi all,
Looking at getting a set of Focal PS 165FX components and wondering if they will fit in a S2000 with the Modifry 3/4 spacers
https://www.crutchfield.com/S-duomvj...-PS-165FX.html
According to Modifry this will give a 3 1/8'' deep top mount depth, the speakers mount depth are 3 1/6'', so it will clear it barely? will it hit the window?
Does anyone here have experience with focal components in a S2000?
Cheers
