Stupid secondary O2 sensor CEL
So my car finally figured out that I was running a HFC and popped a CEL.
I've read that people are just disabling the secondary O2 sensor with the Flashpro to get rid of the CEL for good. Is the secondary O2 sensor only there to detect catalytic converter efficiency, or does it do something else that could create an issue?

I simply unplugged the o2 from the main harness, and didn't bother removing it from the stock cat. I disabled it in flashpro and no check engine light.
One small plus that I wasn't expecting which is nice is that it seems like I'm getting better gas mileage w/ the test pipe. Maybe ~2mpg increase? We'll see after my next fillup, so I can make a good comparison. Last tank I was a little heavier on the throttle than I usually am and hit ~27mpg with mixed driving. I'll keep an eye on it and report back.

If you're going to leave the sensor installed, then you should really leave it plugged in. There's no benefit in unplugging it, and leaving them unplugged will just increase the chance that the connectors will corrode from moisture.

Yep, I understand that gernby.. I left it installed/threaded into the stock cat, and just removed the cat and installed the straight pipe. The straight pipe came w/ a nice threaded stubby bolt/plug for the o2 sensor bung which I tightened down. I wrapped the exposed end of the secondary o2 sensor plug (which I'm guessing is part of the main harness) w/ good ole duct tape, so water doesn't get in and cause corrosion on the pins.
