Default AP1 Comptech SC CARB Legal Kit Reliability

Hey all,

So I have considered a SC for my 2001 AP1, but have to deal with emissions testing in Northern VA, which rules out AEM. I was thinking a CARB legal comptech SC (5-6 PSI) with "piggyback fuel management" may be a good option. It will reduce the cost of the set up (~$6000 installed) and maintain emissions. The car has upgrades including ACT PP, ARP head bolts, updated BANJO bolts, and AP2 retainers so its ready for boost. My main questions is how reliable are these systems with the comptech "piggyback" and not a full tune with AEM or KPRO?

You can read about my experience with SOS stage 1 in the other thread in here. It's pretty much a similar kit with no carb approval. So far I've been diagnosing some problems but if I started over again I would probably do aem v2. I've read others in the forum run these kits reliably for years so if you will be happy with ~300whp then it's a good option. Just keep in mind you can't go higher than 7psi because of the limitations in the rrfpr tuning and fuel setup. I'm actually pretty happy with mine.

If you don't have a strict visual inspection you can just take off the supercharger belt, replace ecu, and put on stock injectors for emissions.
