Default High power question between F20 and F22

I'm about to pick up an S2000 because I just sold my FRS I want to go single turbo and push decent power in the future so my question is what is consider the maximum reliable power range for each motor? I've heard the F22 can hold a little more but idk how accurate that is. Thank you for any answers, I'd love any other tips you may have to help me decide between an AP1 and AP2! Thank you guys very excited to join the S2000 world!

The f22 u can slap a FI kit and be good for 400whp RELIABLY. F20 u need to change a few things b4 like valve train and diff. Then this will be a good setup. Ap1 is more fun imo. Ap2 is the dedicated track car. If this is a street car I would go with ap1. Its cheaper a lot more fun. Also to make it ap2 reliable u will spend less than an ap2 price.

if you want to go E85, the 2004-2005 model year is the best year. No tight exhaust valves, don't need to upgrade banjo's, 2.2 > 2.0, throttle cable, return fuel system, and you can run Flex Fuel without braking the bank. if you want Pump gas and don't mind just simply using Flashpro as your engine mgmt., go with 2006 -09. Unless you are getting a steal on an AP1, my opinion would be go with the 04-05 model year for turbo > 500whp.

don't forget its not the motors that are the weak point, its the drivetrain. especially the diff...

A lot of misinformation on here. The ap1 and ap2 diffs are both equally weak in my opinion but if you dont launch the car you will be fine. The 03 ap1 has had the banjo bolt issue fixed already. The only difference would really be the intake retainers on the ap2 but as long as the ap1 has not had a mechanical over rev it should be fine as well.

so you're saying in terms of handling power both engines are basically on par?

Yes but you lose 1k rpm of fun with the F22. The AP2 has been "softened up" or "watered down" compared to the AP1 in terms of driving experience. I think the cams or at least the exhaust cam on the AP1 works better on boosted applications but it's negligible.

They are both awesome and can make tons of reliable power if everything is done properly.

And just a fyi for everyone. The highest powered stock block record belongs to a f20 not a f22. They are both very reliable with f1 and it all comes down the the tune as well as how you take care of it. With the same power an ap1 will win every single time because it is geared better for boost and is lighter.
