Default Ignition Problems

Hey guys I finally got my car on the dyno today, but ran into ignition problems at a very low boost level. I'm running 8psi on an inline pro kit. AFR's are in the high 11's during the entire pull. The car makes decent power and pulls smooth, but has an audible miss in high rpms that was also seen at the tach pickup signal from the dyno. I gapped the plugs down to .022 (bkr8eix) and it helped a bit, but it is still there. This is a f20c using stock coils. I switched out to some spare rsx coils(we think they are rsx coils) and it did not fix the problem at all. More coil dwell also did not help. I am running out of ideas here. I have never had problems before with the better coils on cars. I need to figure this out before cranking up the boost and spraying meth.

Also does anybody know what denso part number is on the side of the rsx coils?

Thats weird for such a low boost. Have you had the head off and possibly forgot to put the ground wire back on the head back by the firewall? I'm at 650 whp on my stock AP1 coils with no problems and my bkr8eix's are gapped at .030".

The number above "DENSO" on the side of the RSX-S coil pack in my hand is 099700-070

I checked the ground and it appears to be secure.

This is really weird man. Were those RSX coils you tried the correct ones? I cant think of anything else that would cause this except maybe a faulty AEM EMS in the ignition area.

Yep it is the right number on the coils. I may need to borrow somebody's ems to test :\
