Of course, nothing prevents you from lowering vtec rpm with any cat, its jist that with stock cat Gernby proved you lose power if you lower vtec below around 5k rpm.

Gernby discovered its all about resonance, from the shape of the cat, not the restrictions from the cat.

Since the evs appears to have the same basic shape as the berk (obviously its about the internal shape, but we can surmise internal shape from external shape), its easy to assume the effective vtec rpm point for evs will be similar to berk, which is around 3800 rpm according to Gernbys findings.

I've had both a 70mm Berk HFC and this EVS in a 63.5 mm. The only difference I've noticed is that the EVS produces quite a bit more of that exhaust smell. Almost like a test-pipe, but definitely not as harsh. The Berk masked the smell a lot better. Maybe the EVS flows a lot better though?

I now have had mine on for about a week and definitely agree. The smell of gas and fumes around my car is much stronger than when I had the berks which doesn't bother me but I am now dealing with the dreaded check engine light problem I was hoping not to have to deal with. Ive owned my car with a berk hfc for 6 years and never had a cel come up and so far I tried the entended defouler thing but that didn't work so going to contact my tuner to turn off the actual 02 sensor if necessary.. I'm still very happy with this hfc just wish the cel never popped up..

I have a 2006. CY from evasive is sending me an extra cel fix and some steel wool to see if that works. So far the method of one defouler hasn't stopped the cel..Besides that the EVS HFC and Tanabe Medallion combo are a blessing to my ears lol Not sure if its to blame but Ive lost some hearing on my right ear due to the louder exhausts Ive been using for the past 6 years on this car.

Update - MY 00 AP1 w/ K&N FIPK, EVS HFC, and Tanabe Medallion combo has not thrown a CEL after 1.5k miles.

Anyone pair this with the EVS 70-SSP exhaust? Wondering how the sound is compared to test pipe.

i just got my Greddy SE Gotuning V2 and the EVS 70 HFC installed and i think it sounds great. Minimal drone if any when cruising on the freeway and at WOT it makes me smile.

Got this paired up with my Fujitsubo Power Getter. The HFC is 63mm and Exhaust is 60mm. Baseline was same bolt ons with no tune.
