Default How would my ap1 benefit from a front sway bar

hi guys I have a mostly stock 2002 ap1 just some minor bolt ons and some grippy bfg sport comp 2 tires 205 front 225 rear

i was wondering how a stiffer front sway bar would benefit my car would I be hurting it or helping it something like the eibach

I am on a stock suspension and rims

my alignment is uk spec -1 camber front 0 toe and -2 camber rear 0.2 toe in rear

Settle the rear end of the car down on the ground when you are taking the corners. That is, the rear end would be less likely to lose grip than the front end would.

Hah, I have been thinking of these questions everyday and even if I have googled it hundreds of times, I prefer to have s2ki members to confirm it... But the best solution is: try it. If you can feel the difference, you would know which one you like. If you don't then you don't need to care about this at this moment .

Due to my skinny tires would the stiffer front bar cause my car to understeer way to much

With a tread rating of 340 these are hardly "grippy" tires. The OEM suspension should take care of handling just fine. The '02-'03 cars have the best AP1 suspension that the Honda engineers could come up with at the time. Lots of changes in the AP2 cars.

The 2002 thru 2007 all have a 300# front sway bar. The 2002 has a whopping stiff 396# rear sway bar. If the car is oversteering you can swap that out for a AP2 rear bar at 311#. But the suspension is a system and just changing one part influences the rest. There's a spring rate chart in this thread. Keep in mind the '04 and later tires have larger wheels and tires. Note Honda tweaked the suspension every two years during the life of the car.

Or you could fit a better set of tires next time.

I just noticed the Engineering Explained guy now has an '02 so, perhaps, there's some useful information there for your '02.

What kind of driving are you doing? Seem to me that the $ might be better spent on tires?

Ditch the swaybar idea. Get some wider tires

Adding the CR front swaybar to my Ap1 I do like the way it feels due to less body roll, I don't really know that it handles better or worse in terms of empirical numbers but I like the feel which the change has made.

By adding only a Eibach FSB, I ended up shaving almost 2 seconds in my lap time. Granted at the time, I was running more suspension mods and better tires then you. It was the biggest bang for buck for me.

Based on your current mod list, I doubt you'll notice anything.
