Exhaust mods on the S2000 have very minimal gains. You would get more of a gain strictly from a test pipe compared to a catback exhaust with stock cat though.

For sound, it would make the exhaust sound different than if there were just the stock cat in place. Usually louder/more aggressive. I've only ever run catless so I can't speak personally to what the differences are.

In terms of performance, you could pair an HFC or test pipe with a tune to lower your VTEC engagement window to gain a good amount of HP/TQ in the midrange.
Okay thanks. This answers my question. I got the sound I was looking for with the common/simple intake mod. Will leave exhaust alone.

The ubiquitous K&N FIPK will add a performance sound to the car. As will simply removing the lid on the OEM airbox! Without dyno testing, though, you won't know if the noise is cosmetic or has any performance gains. Pretty sure you get some minuscule power from the FIPK. You'll sound like you're accelerating faster/harder though.

The K&N gains are in the mid range; peak gains are minimal. Taking the lid off of your OEM airbox will cost you somewhere in the ballpark of 10 hp.

How about the Fuji Legalis R and Berk HFC set up? I hear tons of good things about the fuji being very discreet and not screaming look at me.

My exhaust sounds like there is a leak under the car especially at part throttle. It seems stock, so I am assuming it is. Could having an after market cat replicate such sound? I am new to Honda's and bought my first one a 2000 API

I have Fuji looking to pair it with a HFC shortly. Right now is just slightly louder than stock. Sounds more free flow, no drone, not obnoxiously loud.
Best exhaust choices in my opinion:
Fujitsubo Legalis R
Milltek
Tanabe Hyper Medalion
HKS

I am also looking for a quieter exhaust with a nice growl. I will most likely get the HKS SSM. Expensive but high quality and supposedly, a really nice sound without the highway drone.
EDIT: I bought the Fujitsubo Legalis R instead.
