Puddy can help you with all your questions including gearing and how beefed up you want to go. Other options are 8.8 rear end or R200 kit... search for Puddymod or search in the Florida section and check him out... if you want to launch the car like a bat out of hell, you are going to need to beef it up a lot.. if you are not launching the car, the stock diff will work as well... if it goes out on you, then upgrade... just my $0.02...

Agree with this approach. The ap2 diff actually has beefed up its carrier bearing end caps which was the typical first failure point on the ap1 diffs. Those caps would flex over time and throw the ring and pinion gears out of alignment and then sheer the teeth from there. I went through 2 ap1 diffs when low boost supercharged and once I switched to an ap2 diff (which I'm still on) never another problem at high boost 450whp. If you drive the car and not drag race the car with a bunch of regular wheel hop(which is the worst, over just spinning the tires cleanly) then you should get a lot of miles out of the diff. I didn't have very good luck with either ap1 or ap2 trans though, been through both of those and back to an ap1 now. Some have better luck then me in that regard. The trans is a whole other ball game though and hard to wan to give up such a nice feeling unit.
