rearward would look better and then you wouldn't have to worry about rain. but the heat from the engine bay would be pulled out the scope and increase your iat's. I would think even higher then if there was no scope at all.
forward would get you some fresh air plus u could make a removable cover for the heavy rain

rearward is basically for cowl induction, forward is obvious, sideways is just whatever pre-made scoop i can make work. the center of the hood already has a 4" naca duct, but i think i might just cut the duct out and lay some sheeting to funnel out the rad air

As someone who designed my own diffsusers and crap, I appreciate well executed custom fab work. I like the idea of the clear cover someone mentioned ala Ferrari style, as long as the hood cuts are clean. Part of doing that would be to do a border molding, and I think with rounded corners basically like the air cleaner shown. I think that air cleaner would also work if oiled, as it would then resist moister within reason, and could in theory then run the scoop open up front for more function in cooling/performance. But its really going to come down to what scoops are available, unless you wanted to find someone to custom vacuum mold a clear plexi to your shape. Maybe 3D printable. Not sure.

Long runners like yours can use 2nd harmonic wave - it poduce more gain than 3rd (most oem and tuned intakes uses).

first lenght calculator from google tells:
Code:
Input length is 17 inches
  • Code:
For 2nd harmonic, RPM range is from 6911 to 8386 with a pulse strength of 10 percent
  • Code:
For 3rd harmonic, RPM range is from 5192 to 5934 with a pulse strength of 7 percent
  • Code:
For 4th harmonic, RPM range is from 4048 to 4527 with a pulse strength of 4 percent
