Ethanol comparison

With a Flex Fuel sensor and and ECU that can make use of it (and tune it), you can run any mixture of gas:ethanol content you'd like and it'll adjust for you (fueling, timing, boost, etc...). I've been on E85 for 3 years or so, but I picked up a Flex Fuel sensor to install into the car so I can just run whatever. I've yet to install it, but I need to do it soon as the ethanol content still hasn't come up to 85% yet the ECU has a harder time correcting the further the % is off.

Like yamahaSHO said, with the fuel composition sensor, you can switch back and forth between any blend of gasoline and ethanol. The sensor will compensate the tune depending on the ethanol content. You're not forced to commit to either gasoline or ethanol.

That's awesome, thanks guys. Did you have to do any mechanical changes other than injectors for the increased flow rate? I already have FlashPro and a trusted dyno-tuner, and have E85 available near my office. It has always sounded like a neat way to pick up some extra power.

Unfortunately, Hondata currently does not offer support for the fuel composition sensor with the Flashpro Manager software. It is available for S300 and K-Pro so I'm sure that eventually there will be support for the fuel composition sensor.
At the moment, if you want to run the fuel composition sensor with an 06-09 AP2 you need AEM series 2, AEM Infinity or Haltech Elite.

Only thing I changed was the injectors as well. I used a set of OEM STi injectors and PnP clips. I already had an AEM ECU, so it was a quick swap to ethanol for me.
I did put in a surge tank with a 155lph pump, but that was to solve the fuel starve issue I had in track with anything less than 3/4 tank of fuel. I still use the stock pump in the tank to fill the surge tank.

I store the car 5-6 months a year for the last 3; no issues.
I have been doing the same with my STi for 5-6 years and also did it with my supercharged SHO for a few years before selling. The current owner lets it sit a lot too. No issues.
Make sure your fuel system is properly sealed off and you should be good.

Stock plugs are just fine. I tightened the gap on mine a little as I've been more likely to blow out spark on other vehicles when I switch to E85. It probably wasn't needed with fresh plugs.

What kind of AFR should you aim for NA?
yamahaSHO I know you are using 565cc injectors, what kind of duty cycle are you seeing with those?
I'm trying to street tune my ITB setup with E85 and just did my first WOT run, looking at my logs now and I see my ~500cc injectors hit 100% duty at 8krpm.
AFR is at low 11 though so maybe they will work if I lean it out a bit and crank up the fuel pressure a few psi.
