Input on Toda Spec C Cams
Hello All,
I'm running out of options, and looking for any input/experience. I've been trying to run Toda's Spec C cams for some time, and I keep getting timing chain issues, where the chain is flexing, and hitting metal parts in the timing chain cover.
The cams were installed with rockers machined by Toda in Japan, along with the Toda heavy duty timing chain, Toda timing chain tensioner, and Toda cam gears. We tested this multiple ways, swapped different cams (Hytech, OEM, Toda), cam gears (OEM and Toda), and it only has this issue with the Toda cams.
Please see video of the noise.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

So it has been concluded that the only problem is the timing chain? No other wear or marks show anything else making noise or contact?
Have you compared/matched the stock timing chain to the toda? Maybe extra links? And the tct just is not capable of taking all the slack. This is really all I got not being able to see what's happening/ going on.
Really not even sure if u can manipulate the chain like that; but lol if this were the case and or one of those gears are under drives for some reason or the other I could see this being a problem. I have built an engine before still haven't on the s2k engine so I don't have a steep understanding of the components necessarily, just trying to help. GL!
IMO only I would of kept and or replaced TC with oem. Not exactly sure how big the toda C is but with aftermarket high lift cams you will have more head noise, just sucks you can't really tell if it's normal or something "more" if ya kno what I mean. Sounds like you sent the head to Toda so you would think it's good.
