Default Engine Rebuild Recomendations

Hiya Guys

Im new to the forum, so hello all :0) Iv put deposit down on a Westfield S2000 starter kit which uses the Honda S2000 Engine and box. I was debating saving up for a Spoon F20C long block, my good buddy has said for the money id be spending, I could have full rebuild for less and with stronger and lighter internals.

The same friend who is an experienced mechanic has suggested I source an cheap S2000 engine in need of a rebuild and has offered to rebuild it for me which would make a nice project.

Since I'm going down the full rebuild route, just wondered what you guys would recommend internals wise as I would like to increase performance without sacrificing engine reliability and longevity. Had thought about stroker kit, but any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The car will also mainly be used on the road and for the occasional track day and plan on using ITB's with it.

Cheers Guys

When you say mechanic friend, he would need experience of dealing with the FRM liners in the S2000 / knowledge of sleveing the block.

There are specialists in the UK but only 2 I would trust with an F20.

Wouldn't go down the Spoon route.

AP2 crank / cams / rods / Pistons would be a good bet.

Hey MB, yeah, he said the same about the spoon route lol Yeah his a very good mechanic and I have no doubt in his ability's, admittedly, not a S2000 specialist, but has plenty of experience with engine rebuilds and would take his time making sure everything is perfect. Did think about sleeving the block with Darton MID sleeves to open up piston options, but would send off the block to have this done.

Yeah was planning on replacing all the internals, just little unsure whats the best options as know not all parts are made equal and the stock internals are defineately not the lightest and strongest.

To be honest, unless you really want to hunt for a lot more power, I'd just buy a used block, refresh the gaskets and clean the oilways, and stick it in.
