Skunk2 intake manifold

You place the clay over the piston and check for valve interference by the impression in the clay. When you start messing with cam profiles and piston to deck heights, you have to have a way to check clearances and clay is one way its done.

Interesting, pretty big gains but only the last 1krpm.
I think these links should work a bit better, this new forum software is awkward

Then definitely not doing that lol Too much work for too little lol
Im using skunk2 stage 2 cams and was hoping they would be drop using stock gears at least.

they will, i thought you mentioned a cam gear thats why i asked. i've had a set of BC stage2 cams sitting in a box for months, never got around to installing them. too worried about stock valvetrain failing with them on track. but then guys report they suck anyway so who knows if i would ever use them.

I do have cam gears but if I have to clay a motor...Im selling them lol. Id use single spring with Ti retainers for cams. I dont know if Id trust stock when its not recommended.
All the tests Ive seen online with both cams make power. My bud made 20WHP with BC2 and my other bud just dynoed yesterday and made 15WHP Skunk2 2 no cam gears. Both were on 2.2 motors.

At first glance this test shows gains in the last 1000rpm as mentioned, but if you look at the baseline its fubar. If that's a normal stock F20 hp curve, its got to be one of the most ill ive ever seen. Since when does an F20 nose dive on power like this at 7500? They don't typically, in fact they resemble the Skunk manifold powerband. Considering that, the manifold does absolutely nothing on a stock F20. I encourage anyone to scour some stock or standard bolt on F20 dyno graphs and look at the hp curve if any doubts. Our motor whether F20 or F22 or stroked, has a consistent typical power curve/shape, and the baseline here doesn't jive with that, giving the elusion that the Skunk manifold offers some gains. The "stock f20" baseline also shows no typical vtec engagement hit at 5900rpm.

"This motor does have 175k miles on it. The test was as back to back as changing an intake manifold can be.. all done in the same day. Literally the only thing changed was the intake manifold and with the skunk2 manifold I had to add a bit of fuel up past 8000 rpms but otherwise that's it. No changes to the timing map or anything else.
It's possible that the big 3.5" intake and big throttle body are hurting things with the stock motor
This engine seems very fat in the midrange as well now that I'm looking at the closer - 195hp at 7200 rpms, most arent close to that till 8000 rpms or later.
Driving the car it's a huge difference in pull up top..
...
the more modified your motor is the more gains you'll see. This test was done on an old worn out ap1 engine. I'd expect to see 30hp+ on a 2.4 liter.
I'm working on getting a 2.4 in here to test."
Pretty encouraging actually.

I think the link I posted should be a good indicator of what kind of gains we should expect. I drop my car off Saturday for just FB mani install and tune. Ill give an update when I get it back.

if you have the FBM manifold in your hands now measure the depth from the inside plenum wall to the runner outer edge if you can
also if you can measure the runner internal diameter size
