f20kills, or others with the CNC 2.4 stroker kit, have you had any issues with the dipstick getting pushed out of your valve cover?

I saw this post in another thread that seems to say if you have that issue then you have blow-by that speaks to other issues:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un.../#post22594558

It happens on mine all the time, so much that I just thought the original dipstick's o-ring had gotten less effective so I bought a new dipstick, but same issue with it popping out. The work-around I'm using is to just turn the dipstick 180 degrees and it never pops out.

Thoughts?

Mine was beyond bad. I had major blow by issues with the new motor at my 1st few track events that Ive never had previous to the build. Not only would the dip stick pop out, I would shoot oil everywhere because my catch can would fill up after one lap.I also felt like I was down on WHP too when I would have these oil issues......

I did the valve cover mod, added bigger lines to my catch can, and now I can go two full session without issue with only half my catch tank filled. Its a small tank too. I highly recommend the valve cover mod stickied at the top of this forum.

I bought a spring to hold my dip stick down because even on the dyno it would pop out. I have no issues now when I go on track.

BTW...none of my lines recirculate to the intake. Id have HP issues in turns and oil build up like crazy. Once I did the valve cover mod, my car ran perfect again.

But don't you need to vent somehow? Do you vent at the catch cans? I'd prefer to avoid that but...

I vent at the catch can to the atmosphere with a filter. Smell like crap but I dont want anything going back into my motor. If it was a street car I would lol

I use a folded up business card and wedge it between the dipstick and the valve cover. Works like a champ. Wynn taught me that.

If the crankcase pressure is high enough to blow out the dip stick with a catch can...maybe a catch can isn't sufficient, some positive crankcase evacuation would seem to be needed. One way is to use an air oil separator (like this heated unit for a Subaru Air Oil Separator for WRX/STI) and route the outlet to the intake. Or route the outlet to a vacuum pump and then to the atmosphere, probably though a catch can with breather. Could the S2000 air pump be used as a vacuum pump?

If not using a catalytic converter, it may be possible to scavenge the crankcase using the exhaust. Moroso built a kit for this: Moroso 25900: Crankcase Evacuation System | JEGS. I had it on my limited late model 20 years ago at the request of the engine builder. I never did a performance test.

hahahaha, I thought I was the only one doing this. Jason Kohler showed me this trick about 4 years ago, with a piece of cardboard. I told everyone it was in the NASA free mod list. On a serious note, once I replaced the dipstick (supposedly you can just do the seal), there was no need.

If you can just do the seal I cannot find the P/N for it. The entire dipstick is cheap though at $14.

sometime back I read a thread where someone was able to replace the seal only. My dealer/sponsor said only avail as whole dipstick, so that's what I did. It was cheap, and worked
