Default KW Clubs vs Ohlins DFV

Opinions wanted

I have the opportunity to get either at roughly the same price. 11/11kg on the KWs and 10/8 on the Ohlins. I plan on doing a lot more track events, but the car is also street driven. I know the KWs are 2-way and the onlins are only rebound...I like the rates on the KWs better. Ohlins just seems to be top notch quality though (not knocking KW either).

Can I get KWs rebuilt in the states? I talked to Ohlins, who said it was $150 per side to rebuild (plus shipping to and from).

IMO, the DFVs hands down. I recently went to these from Moton club sports and the Ohlins DFVs provide a noticeable more amount of control on the car in certain situations. Particularly with high speed bumps, the car stays more settled. DFVs stands for dual flow valve which refers to a bi-directional "ultra high speed" path for harsher bumps (in addition to low speed and high speed compression/rebound found in normal dampers). Typical dampers use a blow off valve for ultra high speed compression but dont support a "ultra high speed" rebound, thus can get unsettled over large bumps or simply a noticeable bump at high speed. The wheel can not rebound as fast as it compressed causing instability in a period where you really want the most control. If you have ridden in any car that has DFVs, it easy to feel this effect.

As noted, Ohlins quality and support are second to none and should be taken into consideration. Also, my turn is quicker and bump steer on my 265 front tires on 10.5" rims was reduced over the Clubsports.

The downsides to the DFV are that they are single adjustable, but the adjustments do change low speed rebound and compression, not just compression. In most cases, R&C are set relatively close to each other anyway so this may not be a big deal. Also, these are inline shocks so wheel travel maybe limited in the rear. You can minimize this by increasing compression during track events or even setting up the car a little higher (the DFVs can change ride high with out pre load as the have an adjustable base perch.

If you really want the best of both worlds, you cant beat the DFVs. More comfortable than stock with more than double the spring rates as well as a 8/10ths track damper that IMO provides more control than $3-4K shocks.

Here are some reviews on other cars. I have yet to find a big complaint about them.

Sorry I don't have anything to add other than the design of the DFV is neat.
Just curious, where would you be shipping the Ohlins to get revalved?

Werd...I really can't pass it up man Then again, if I have too much buyer's remorse I could always sell 'em and get the DFVs, but I like that these are 2-way and not 1.
