Maxxis Victra VR-1..... Who's In?
So prices for Maxxis's new 200TW tire have been published, and they come out to $640 shipped for a set. That's right about what I'm paying for RS3s, and considerably cheaper than the RE71s and Dunlops. Has anyone heard anything regarding performance with these? I'm due for a new set in a couple months and these are a compelling option, especially if they're in the same performance echelon as the Bridgestones......

I don't know if they will. I can't think of a single person that runs TT on a 200TW tire. Maybe Nick B, but that's occasional I would imagine...
Edit: just remembered you run RS3s. Shit, this would be great for you if they had a contingency.

The post I saw on a NASA group was that these are not approved for NASA contingency this year. They surely will be next year. Not sure they will be worth it if they end up in the same group of tires as the RE71Rs.

Very curious about them as well. I run the RC-1 mostly because I can run on free tires all year. I did talk to them at SEMA about them, they said they would be part of the contingency program, not sure if it is valid this year or not. You can always ask them to send you these instead of RC-1's when you send them the results for some free tires and see if they will send these instead of RC-1's. I'm planning on that after I build up an extra set of RC-1's. I'm thinking of running these for rain tires, curious to see how their wet performance will be.
