NT01 vs RS3
#31
I dont Auto-x, so I dont know. But my thought was in auto-x you do a lap with time between laps. Not enough to exceed the tires temp range. This was my assumption but again, I know nothing about auto-x.

While NT01 does neat cycle, it doesn't drop off nearly as much as the RS3. Which is why I would also vote NT01 for the track over RS3.
Absolutely true. I hate running on street tires. NT01 I could get 2x the hot laps, and even better they positively respond to a cooldown lap mid-session, and then you can go at it hard again.
NT01 are predictable, affordable, good longevity, and actually suited to track driving. RS3 are fast (on days 1-2 and for laps 1-2) and cheap, but are otherwise crap. Great tire for competitions where you are limited to a street tire, but a crap HPDE tire imho.
Another option to consider is the new Maxxis RC-1

I really liked my first set of RS-3's on '03 and stock suspension. I did seam weld my upper control arms for no other reason than peace of mind.
I have autocrossed for nearly 10 years now.

All of you guys who are on R-compound, how are you getting to the track? Driving on the R tires? Hitch and trailer? Trailering the whole car?
I think the key in the whole argument of R is faster is based on what goal? If you are in competition, then definitely get the faster tire. If you are just doing HPDE, then get the most convenient for your situation.
