Rob,
How did you remove the sound deadening material from over the wheel wells? The dry ice and alcohol worked well for me every place but there. Truth be told, I still havent done the DS and PS floorboards but I'm not expecting a problem there.

I let Piper Motorsports, the cage builder, remove that crap. I think they used brass wire wheels.

How many pounds do you guys think that stuff is anyway? 20lbs? 10.......50!!! lol

Maybe 10lbs total at a cost of $20 for dry ce and isopropyl alcohol.

Mine was all messed up from the other bolt in bar I had. Plus I'd like to clean up everything behind the seats and get things looking a little more uniform.

The stuff on the wheel wells is more tar like.

Great video! So the wheel well is only 10lbs worth of tar? Or 10lbs for inside sound deadening? Sorry I wasn't sure but 20lbs for the car in the video is a lot !

That's a much larger, older car with a lot more sound deadening material than our cars have. Plus I would imagine the materials evolved too, getting lighter while still doing the same job.

I'm saying maybe 15 lbs for the floor boards,the spare tire area, the trunk tool well area AND the spots over the wheel wells. Lots of work for very little weight savings. Again, I'm doing it more for looks and uniformity than anything.

A wire wheel gets that and the stuff underneath the car off pretty well, it will make a mess, but it will take it off.

I used a heat gun to take off all my sound deadening material. Heat, scrape, repeat.

I used a brass wire cup on the end of a drill for one wheel well, what a fukn mess. The other side I used a wide flat head screwdriver, took about the same time but needed some gas and a 3M scuff pad to get it off completely.

Working up to the trans / driveshaft tunnel now. Peeled off the metal foil and used Stoners Tarminator for the residue.
