A fellow pulls up next to me at a light in a white CRX with a rough body kit (needed paint). He's lined up in a "forbidden" lane (wide shoulder area) and obviously wants my lane at the next light.

I didn't rev up much before the light changed. I mean, it's an itty bitty CRX after all. Light changes and I hear some funky noises coming from his car. I figure his tires are squealing but the pitch is too high and he's got serious forward motion. I'm only pulling even with him through 1st and getting a little ahead when he has to shift early. I back off in mid-2nd gear and let him in. At the light after that we chat and I find out he's got a lightly turbocharged GSR motor under the hood.

Now that is a serious pocket rocket. Cool pop-off wheeze. Maybe 230 crank HP? And maybe 2000 lbs (if he stripped it or started with an HX platform)? Still not really a match for us because of FWD but a definite challenge.

Actually, even with FWD he should have taken you after 1st gear. My other Honda weighs in around 2150 lbs and makes about 200-210 crank hp and 150-160 lbs-ft. My S2K will pull mildly on it in 3rd, but in 2nd its a dead heat. The 'other' runs 14.0@98-99 mph.

If the guy had even a lightly turbo'd B18C he should have been pumping out at least 230 crank and really more like 250-260.

Since you actually were pulling even with him, I'm guessing one of three things:

1. His car needs major tuning.
2. He was having major wheelspin problems which could be it from your description of shifting early (driver skill is paramount)
3. He couldn't drive

Or maybe you have an Comptech SC :-) Beware the cheap Honda that looks like crap and wants to race you - we like to embarrass people (I leave mine dirty, stock looking and run with plastic wheel covers for added effect).
