Wohoo. I beat a E46 M3 (3 people in the car) with my 01 S2k. Beat him to 45 mph until we hit a light. I think he was in the automatic mode. I'm sure he would have killed me if we went to higher speeds.

That's my E46 M3 story. And yes I know the M3 owner.

non M3 e46's without the ZHP package have a speed limiter at 128. I think they run 14.9 thru the quarter in stock form. weigh about 3200lb. advantage S.

does an SMG M3 launch very hard in 'economy' (least aggressive setting?) I think the only rag numbers are measured in the most aggressive mode.

Of course only the 2 exhaust tips, absolutely not an M3, I would have been killed. The question is would i have pulled this hard on an auto 330. I am betting it is an 02 or 03 based on the front fog lamps and grill, i am well aware of the 2000 - 2001 Model years front end. Plus the side markers were triangular and not oval.


Either way, I was somewhat surprised. We indeed have a great all around car. Even though I drive the 911 more frequently, i feel like i never miss a beat with my s.

We had a M3 on our last group drive. He wasn't able to pull on me (behind him), or another s2000 (in front of him) between straights coming out of corners (40-~80mph). He commented on how strong our cars were. I told him that he would probably pull past 80.

The S2000 is strong for what it is but that M3 driver probably wasn't as skilled as you. The M3 traps 6-7 mph faster than the S2000 in the quarter and will pull away hard from an S2000 once in the triple digits. I loved my S2000 and certainly wish my M3 was as nimble and had as nice a tranny as my S2000 but an E46 M3 will eat an S2000 alive. Was you friends car an 6MT or SMG? If it was SMG then it's possible he wasn't in S6...if it was a 6MT then he just can't drive. I can pull consisten 0-60 times in the 4.6-4.7 range in my 6MT and will hopefully pull off a 12.9x once I get the Eurobahn software installed. There is noway a non FI'd S2000 can hang with me I don't care if it's in the twisties or not.

With a good driver in a stock S, it should beat all of E46 3-series except for the M3. I've also beaten a 330, 328, and 325.

I have 2004 M3 SMG... and DSC off / S6, in sport mode... I will destroy a non FI s2000... I pulled an Evo and STi hard from 5mph starts they couldn't keep up either. I always drive in S6, I have Dinan Stage I Software / SMG software, my car is more responsive than stock... but an SMG with Software is capable of 13.0-13.3 if launched properly.

You most likely beat on a 330ci "stock" if you pulled 6-7 cars on it... no way you trounced an M3, if you had FI, there's a possibility.
