I beat myself...
SO I am heading home from the office today in my daily driver g35 sedan, get stopped at a light, decide to check my side view mirror and low and behold what do I see...
An old co-worker of mine who still works for the company was in the adjacent lane in his white 02 S2K. Thing is, he is going home the same way I am and I am in the entrance ramp lane and I know that he needs to be in the same entrance ramp lane as well. The little punk ( okay he is older than me and has three children) wants to get the jump on me at the light!
The entrance ramp is actually this 270 degree decreasing radius sweeper that dumps out onto a half mile long straightaway before you merge onto a divided highway. It is definitely S2000 territory all the way and for a few moments, I think I should just let him get around me and enjoy the curve 30mph faster than I can probably make it in my DD.
But then I think, screw that, I'm a dude, not a little girl, and S2k or no S2k i'll be layin down for NO man ( this is a perfect example of why my wife always cringes when I come come from a drive in MY S2k with heat pouring off the car with the sound of the engine and exhaust popping away as they cool. She knows that I lack a little bit in the RESTRAINT department)
But anyway...the light turns green and I goose the G, not WOT but probably about 75% and I can see him in my six, he is definitely going to make a try at the end run. So I bring the hammer down, the G drops into second and in moments its all over.
He has to bring up the rear as we proceed through the sweeper. ( Thirty miles later he STILL manages to get off on his exit before I get off of mine)
Was he at WOT? Who knows, but the stock G has gobs o torque and is a tough customer from zero to forty.
Oddly enough, I did feel kinda bad for him, because, in a way, he was me...
