2000 S2000 turbo (Buy or Pass)
#21
My opinion is $9K is too much to buy an s2k that's been rebuilt and god knows what else to run at a spec less than OEM compression. If you want to buy it....prepare to boost it proper or walk away.

If I were dead set on getting a boosted S2000 I would probably buy the one you're looking at, but fully accept that I may be buying a money pit.

If you don't want to spend a great deal of time/stress/money I would stay away. I'm always willing to make sweat equity but it would be wise to spend more now and buy unmolested car. As it is count on new/used motor and be prepared to spend more money on induction system.

Deal is pending on the car I'm going to get it tomorrow if everything goes well. We're doing a compression test before the sale and I'm going to fix the turbo system. The price has taken a big change so I don't think I can turn it down. Thanks for all your help and I'll post pics if I get the car.

Worst case I could sell off everything and buy a regular motor. If the motors good and was sleeved 25k miles ago then the engine should be fine. Especially if I very compression. He has recipts for everything and turbo is a custom shop built system that doesn't seem like they just threw something together. Am I missing somthing?

well I'm vested now as I bought it this morning. Everything runs and drives great but it cuts out at max boost. I'm taking it to the shop who built it in 2 weeks to have them troubleshoot the cutout. The car is fun to drive as is but the turbo might beven a quick fix and is worth looking into.
