My AP1 had the rear bumper repainted and the "diffuser" was also painted over. I wanted how it was originally in flat black and there's an actual Honda color code for it. NH78-3. Some parts such as moldings and what not come unpainted in a color listed as NH78 (bumper gray).

Thanks crono good tip. It was a nice day yesterday so I took the S out of storage and yanked the bumper off. I should be able to tape it off pretty well and sand / paint it black. Before I do that I'm going to have it resprayed. It's pretty beat up in the front.
On a side not the PO at some point put little holes through the area, I wonder if they had the LED lights. installed and the holes were for the wires.

My oem bumper has tiny holes in them.
My other OEM bumper also had the led fog lights as other have mentioned in them; I believe I was one of the first to install these on the AP2, before I removed them.
They aren't the best quality by a long shot even if you choose to fix them up yourself. Just my opinion though.

Ugh, I hate it when paint guys half ass their work. This is a prime opportunity to install some brake ducts for the front rotors.

This is a really bad idea IMO. It would be very difficult to make sure not to get a single drop on the rest of the bumper. It would not be possible to get a nice, fine edge between the stripped area and the surrounding area. Rinsing the stripper off would be a nightmare, trying not to wash any onto the rest of the bumper. The stripper would eat the plastic.

As an update, I got my bumper painted and then proceeded to tape off and paint the indents in the AP2 bumper and of course learned a some lessons along the way. First, pics:
Lessons learned:
1. Let a freshly painted bumper cure longer before painting. The painters tape and paint had a reaction with the new paint on the bumper which made a bit of a mess.
2. Duplicolor flat black I believe is a good match to the Honda trim paint color.
Overall it looks lousy at a distance of 2 feet, but generally ok at 5+ feet away so I'm happy. We'll see how it holds up over time.
