To the extent that an 08/09 CR without a top, radio, or A/C is no lighter than an 00/01 AP1.
With the fuel light on, it weighed 2620-2625 on my local balancing/alignment rack. I could save about 7 lbs by taking the hitch assembly off. I could save about 8lbs by modding the current exhaust. I could save 12lbs by switching to 245 A6s and 4lbs with lighter rear wheels. Some fluids can be drained, etc, etc. My goal for next year is to get into the 2500 range.
I've yet to see a confirmed A-Stock legal S2000 in the 2500s other than claims without proof or anything to back it up.

60 posts and 61 opinions....the very best year S2000 is the one you drive and like...so go drive a 03, 04, 05 , 07, 08, etc....or whatever year you wish and tell us!
I like what I have and think it better than the 01 and 03 I drove, not enough better than the older ones I drove to make a deal breaker, but I wanted the AP-2, just cause.
1. I could afford a new car.
2. The $5,000 premium everyone charged was going away and I did not have to pay it.
3. I wanted a car then, and the 2004 car was then.
I trusted Honda to do right by the car and they did, I like the changes the AP2 has in every day life. I would expect if I could have a tbw and some sort of traction control I would opt for it rather than being a more careful and eventually skilled drive in bad weather.\
You tell us?

As for the quibble comment, I'm pointing out my experiences and what I have documented from racing these wonderful cars. If you want to act 13 like the gentleman above, so be it.
I ran out and did some quick testing on 2 different AP1s that I was able to get my hands on quickly. Both with VAFCs installed (stock ECUs both) to record max rpm. See the max revs at fuel cut off below...
(apologies for the somewhat crappy iPhone pics)
Anyone with a VAFC can run their own tests.
Go to main menu -> Monitor -> 1 Channel -> REV -> Press UP to put into "Peak" mode.
One more pulled tonight.

The VAFC taps into the ECU wiring harness.

All i can say is that with any S2000 that you may eventually buy, every single darn time you drive that machine it'll just put a big smile on your face. That's how great any S2000 is /End thread

My CR weighed 2689 prepped for A-Stock with a full tank (topped off) on the scales at Nationals.

Honda claims 2765 lb. for the CR, 99 lb. less than the standard model. Presumably that would also be with no fuel.
Edmunds gives the CR with no A/C or radio a weight of 2813 lb. (vs. 2855 with A/C and radio, vs. 2864 lb. for the standard model. They list the '00 model's weight at 2809 lb.

Surely most of whatever you did to yours to get to 2689 with a full tank could also be applied to an early AP1 to achieve similar weight reduction.
My impression remains: The CR is no lighter-weight than an '00/01.

Right, sorry, which wire/sensor? Just trying to figure out the differences between our dataloggers and the VAFC.
