Do we have another vehicle which we might be able to compare the S2000 to? Something which had a solid MY run, sold in decent numbers but was not renewed. My mind goes to the TR6. I know the TR7 followed, but it wasn't really the same car. Prices on it seem to range from $11,000 to nearly $40,000.

I am am just curious to speculate how high the values may go. How long till non CR models go for $40,000?

I should sell my '01 with 23000 miles. Think I will.

You should, or just keep for a little longer. Prices are definitely going up, which is why I'm making a move now. I found an 08 LGP S2000 for $23k with 49k miles on it.

Expensive? yeah, probably. But I need to do something now or they're just going up in price.

I'm on the local FB group here in Calgary and someone posted asking if anyone had theirs for sale. Mine is paid off this spring (03 GPW on Tan) and I have no interest in selling it, so I threw out a number on the high side and it gathered a lot of interest. Don't think I'll let it go just yet, but it's nice to see prices higher than I paid.

It's interesting though, because modded cars tend to go for less. I've thought about supercharging mine, which would cost a decent chunk. Yet if I sold mine, I could probably buy one already done up, properly, for less money. That idea I'm a bit more curious about lol.

Supply and demand, discontinued model it will all add up in the end. I actually just picked up my second S2K. Glad I did. I'll probably hold on to as long as I can. Hopefully, I won't get bored with it.

The market has been on a steady rise since 2015 north of the US border, nice to see the value of these cars are holding strong.

I'm not totally convinced, however I think this is the start to them rising. See below for my last two S2k purchases:

2007 with 72k miles - Dec 2012 - $17k (NFR)
2007 with 78k miles - Feb 2017 - $16k (GPW)

Both were clean stock cars that of course needed a grand or two to make right, typical used car stuff. In my eyes they were valued the same given the mileages.

That said, this time around I found roughly 60% of the cars I looked at had accident damage. I think we'll now start seeing prices really going up as it gets harder and harder to find clean cars. All the really clean cars had ~30k miles and were in the upper 20s outside of my budget. I think the prices on "drivers" will start to creep closer and closer to lower and mid 20s over the next few years.

My opinion is that, if you are driving the crap out of the car then you need an older year model, but if you are enjoying the appearance and feeling of the car more instead of high mileage every year, go with low mileage clean ones.

You won't regret it either way though.

Production numbers are a fraction of what the S2000 is. 110,000 is a helluva lot of cars.
