I think the general idea at this point is the S2000 won't be changing for some time (6-8 years?) Similar to the NSX.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I've been waiting for a tough little v6 or a type R something...

Z06, boxter s, here I come.

Why should Honda change a good and so balanced setup ? If you have not enough torque at low RPM we should ask Honda to implement a V6. But that option (the NSX engine) wont fit in the current S2000 engine compartment I believe.

From what I've heard, the S2000 will go i-VTEC in conjunction with the new NSX release, ie 2004-2006 area

I think the next generation S will have a 42 volt electrical system and fully electronic valves. Using no throttle plate, the valves are infinitely adjustable and all four valves per cylinder can be independently operated for good swirl and resonance effect. There will be separate oxygen sensors on each header tube for precise control and balance.

Hope that will be good enough for you. Expect it in 05 as an 06 model.

In case you want to read more about camless valves, check out this site and link from there:

I think so ! iVTEC will do 2 things for the Honda line of cars, 1st improve gas mileage( federal mandate ) and 2nd improve emissions. So the Accord model line will change next year and will more than likely receive iVtec. The Civic Si and RSX/RSX Type R were introduced this year with iVTEC. If you looked under the hood of a Si or RSX, you'll see the transmission is on the other side of the car (when compared to other Honda fwd cars ). The reason for that is the iVTEC engine rotates clockwise!! The S2000 engine rotates clockwise also, so it's a no brainer, it will happen! iVTEC will not only give the S2000 better fuel efficiency and emissions, iVTEC will also improve low-end torque and increase the hp a little.

Honda always does something to their cars over the life of the production run, including the NSX. There have cosmetic and mechanical changes and bumps in hp over the years. Just as there have been changes in the S2000 over the last 2 model years. iVTEC will the S2000's next big change! That's my prediction !

I agreed.

but you forget some of minor changes of NSX.

change engine from C30A to C32A.

5 speed to 6 speed.

add NSX-T, Type R, Type S, Type S Zero model.

So S2000 may have minor changes like from VTEC IVTEC...
