^ Definitely keep an eye on this. The correct filter, as Chuck described, is a pretty big filter. I've seen some dealerships put the smaller filter on and tell customers that it's just as good. Use the correct one.
I have had the oil light come on, even though I change myself. I always forget to reset it when I do the oil change so I go on my own experience doing the fluids myself, and not the computer. I think, in your case, it probably was just not reset

I might add that by doing it yourself the savings can be significant. I asked one dealer, for fun, what the charge was to do the diff and trans. $180 EACH!
$360 total! I was amazed.
Buy quality oil, be sure you raise and jack stand your car correctly and you will have fun and save money to boot.
